Environment

Our natural environment is a subject that is being hotly contested today.  How we interact with the environment is a subject that will undergo a a major shift once we have proven reincarnation is fact.

Whenever we talk about the future, people from all walks of life invariably point out, "It's all about the children!" Most people do consider their children at least as important as they are. A lot of us feel our children are more important than we are. We put them in the life boats first followed by our significant others and then ourselves. We all do that in emergencies. We only play lip service to it when it comes to the environment.

The primary reason we  do not concern ourselves with the mess our children are going to try and survive in is the changes happen slowly and we simply don't feel the need to change our lifestyles in order to adopt policies that will lead to a better environment for our children.  The million dollar question I have is, would we feel any differently if we suddenly knew it was our future as well as our children's  future? I am not talking simply the near future. The future, under reincarnation, becomes  the entire life span of this planet assuming future generations can correct the damage we are doing now. If they cannot, the future will be limited to the habitable future only.

Future generations will no doubt  develop technologies to compensate for our changing environment but  we have an inconceivably long way to go before we can  repair our sun and why would we bother? It's a big universe and the technology to travel to the stars, I believe, will happen long before we have the ability to regenerate suns. Why do I even bring that up? If we reincarnate, we are all going to be there at the end no matter what happens.

For all of us to be there all we have to do is maintain zero population growth. The problem we have now is how do we maintain zero population growth? If reincarnation exists, I believe we will want to maintain zero population growth until we know what happens to our entities when there are no  newborns to carry us forward.  For now, what happens to our entities in case of negative population growth, will have to remain in the hands of faith.

The study of evolution reinforces  the concepts of cause and effect and common sense. It is a system  that continually tries to improve itself that has evolved a species that is capable of destroying its own environment. What better way to offset that  could there be then making that species have to live with the results of its own messes?

If we were a lesser species we could look upon humans as just another one of evolutions mistakes and dump them into the bit bucket along with  the myriads of other species that have gone extinct. On this planet,  we are alone at the top of the evolutionary scale. Our closet relatives live in very primitive societies and must deal with and adapt to the environment they live in.  We can change our environment. What better incentive could there be than making us all live in it for all time? If reincarnation is not yet possible, the evolutionary process will  figure it out.
